LaRue opens playoffs Friday night at Valley High

LaRue County snapped a two-game losing streak with a 42-6 win Friday night over Butler County.

The Hawks closed the regular season at home with a sendoff celebration for senior members of the team that preceded the game.

LaRue led from the outset as Ryan Whitlcock returned the opening kickoff for a score.

Quarterback Jordan Brewer scored on two runs and completed a touchdown pass to Jason Carlberg. Alex Lee and Drew Newberry also ran for Hawk TDs.

Friday's win assures the Hawks of a winning season. LaRue is 6-4 entering the playoffs. For the second straight year, the Hawks will travel to Jefferson County to play Valley (6-4)  in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday.
