The Green County Fiscal Court suspended a February decision approving a go kart track near Donansburg after a group of citizens objected during the March regular meeting.
Magistrates had approved Brandon Curry’s plans to build a go kart track on Mitchell Cemetery Road with the intentions of drawing racers from all over the southeast.
No one objected to the plan at a hearing on Feb. 28, and Curry told the magistrates that no one living in the area had expressed opposition to the plan.
Several area residents expressed concerns at Thursday’s meeting.
With the advice of Green County Attorney Russ Goff, Judge-Executive Misty Edwards recommended suspending the application to hold another public hearing to avoid any sense of impropriety.
“It would be putting something in the middle of a residential area and the best option to do would be to have a proper public hearing with everybody represented,” Judge Edwards said.
The public hearing is scheduled for 4 p.m. April 17.
