Frankfort memorial established for grieving parents

-A A +A

Bluff overlooking river selected as site

For women who have lost a baby to miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion the grief can seem endless. But now there’s an opportunity for closure, a chance to honor an unborn child.

The Kentucky Memorial for the Unborn, planned for a bluff in Frankfort Cemetery overlooking the river, will be a place of reflection, healing and hope.

Organizers are now accepting pre-construction orders for $100 inscriptions on the granite wall. Each engraved area is 3x10-inches with two lines of text. For more information, call 859-255-2000 or visit http://www.kymemorialfortheunborn.org/.

A bronze statue of Rachel Weeping for Her Children, the centerpiece of the womb-inspired memorial, is complete; and the foundation should be installed sometime this fall. Fundraising is under way for the granite wall and the final phase, including the rock overlay on the foundation.

Churches and civic groups with cumulative gifts of $1,000 or more will be recognized on a bronze plaque at the site.

All donations are tax-deductible. Send to Kentucky Memorial for the Unborn, P.O. Box 910312, Lexington KY 40591-0312.
