Four ALES students advance in Spelling Bee

Winners, alternates selected for regional bee at ECTC

Twenty-four classroom winners competed Friday at Abraham Lincoln Elementary for advancement to the upcoming annual North Central Kentucky Spelling Bee April 23 at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.


The objective of the spelling bee is to promote and develop an appreciation of language, skill in spelling, awareness of words, and love of intellectual pursuits for those with an aptitude for spelling. Representing the Primary Division is Carter Sheldon a second-grade student from Beverly Heady’s class. The Primary Division alternate for ALES will be Josh Harper of Tina Southwood’s class. Representing the Elementary Division is Skyler Hornback, a fourth-grader in Sherry. McMillion’s class. The Elementary Division alternate is Katelyn Lafollette, a fourth-grader from Heather Cline’s class.
