Five charged with vandalism at Salem Lake

-A A +A

Four adults and a juvenile were charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief after driving all-terrain vehicles at Salem Lake.
Emily Petty of Sonora; Travis Puryear of Hodgenville; Cassandra D. Sherman of Elizabethtown; and Brandon Dawson of Elizabethtown, all 18, allegedly drove the ATVs around the lake area about 10 p.m., leaving ruts in “an area the size of a football field.” They were lodged in the LaRue County Detention Center.
The juvenile was released to his mother.
The lake has not been opened for fishing this spring and Acting Police Chief Steve Johnson said he isn’t sure how the five got into the area. Damages are estimated at more than $500.
The ATVs were towed.
The teens will be arraigned Wednesday in LaRue District Court.
