LaRue County magistrates passed a resolution in support of U.S. 31-E, from Bardstown to Hodgenville, becoming part of the National Scenic Byways.
“The road is already a state scenic highway, but this declaration should help in opening the door for more federal grant money to, among other things, make that section of 31-E safer, by, for instance, installing more guardrails,” Judge-Executive Tommy Turner said during the Nov. 11 meeting of Fiscal Court.
The area also will be included in any federally funded tourist promotions, he added.
