Total county receipts for 2013 fell some $84,000 from the previous year, LaRue County Clerk Linda Carter told magistrates meeting at the courthouse in Hodgenville March 11.
The reduction, from $2,835,844.23 in 2012 to $2,751,856.07 in 2013 was due, in large part, to fewer delinquent taxes, according to Carter.
“More people paid their taxes on time last year, plus real estate didn’t sell as well, resulting in less money brought in through deed taxes,” she explained.
