February Indictments

Several people were indicted Feb. 20 by a LaRue County grand jury for offenses ranging from rape to welfare fraud.
They include:
Ethan Robert Ferguson (1973) of Henderson, was indicted on one count of flagrant non-support and first-degree persistent felony offender.
He is charged with failing to provide support that resulted in an arrearage of $11,828.80 between December 2010 and February 2012. He is accused also of having been previously convicted of complicity to theft by unlawful taking and flagrant non-support in Hardin County.
Bail was set at $25,000 cash only upon condition of dusk-to-dawn curfew, no violation of the penal code and no contact with the complaining witness.
The Division of Child Support investigated.
Billie J. McKinney (1984) of Elizabethtown, was indicted on one count each of first-degree rape and second-degree assault.
He is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with another person by use of forcible compulsion and choking a woman until she passed out. The alleged offense occurred Aug. 5, 2011.
Bail was set at $50,000 cash only upon condition of dusk-to-dawn curfew, no violation of the penal code and no contact with the complaining witness.
Kentucky State Police investigated.
Charles W. McLain (1991) of Hodgenville, was indicted on one count of defrauding secured creditor. He is accused of destroying, removing or concealing property subject to a security interest in that he sold an ATV for cash and failed to pay off a loan to Lincoln National Bank. The alleged offense occurred between June and September 2011.
Bail was set at $25,000 cash only upon condition of curfew, no violation of the penal code and no contact with Lincoln National Bank.
KSP investigated.
Brittany S. Whitmer (1982) of Buffalo, was indicted on one count of welfare fraud.
She is accused of failing to advise the Department for Community Based Services of her correct household circumstances and received $7,224.45 in Medicaid benefits  she was not legally entitled to.
The alleged offense occurred between March and July 2011.
Bail was set at $2,500 cash only.
The Office of the Inspector General investigated.
Amy Gaines (1981) of Magnolia, was indicted on two counts of welfare fraud.
She is accused of failing to advise the Department for Community Based Services of her correct household circumstances and received $3,054 in food stamps and $13,082.06 in Medicaid benefits which she was not legally entitled to.
The alleged offense occurred between December 2010 and July 2011.
Bail was set at $2,500 cash only.
Office of the Inspector General investigated.
Bruce Todd Bloyd (1964) of Elizabethtown, was indicted on one count each of first-degree possession of controlled substance, second offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana; and second-degree persistent felony offender.
The alleged offenses occurred Dec. 1, 2011.
Bail was set at $25,000 cash only.
Kentucky State Police investigated.
Brandon W. Moore (1986) of Upton, was indicted on one count each of first-degree burglary; third-degree terroristic threatening; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana; and possession of synthetic cannabinoid agonists or piperazines. (Editor’s note: Synthetic cannabinoid agonists or piperazines are “herbal incense products” that give a marijuana-like high.)
He is accused of entering a residence with the intent to commit a crime, threatening a man, possessing drug paraphernalia and marijuana on Jan. 1.
Bail was set at $50,000 cash only.
The LaRue County Sheriff’s Office investigated.
Nicole L. Murray (1979) of Hodgenville, was indicted on one count each of first-degree possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is accused of possessing methamphetamine on Dec. 16, 2011.
Hodgenville City Police investigated.
Bail remains the same set in district court.
Arraignment for each is March 5 in LaRue Circuit Court.
The indictment of a person by a grand jury is an accusation only and the person is innocent until and unless proven guilty.
