Buy an emblem, support FFA
Southern States is supporting the National FFA Organization by selling FFA emblems for $1 through March 18. Proceeds are split between the local FFA chapter, the state FFA association and the National FFA Foundation.

Conservation Reserve Program
Landowners and producers will have a four-week window beginning March 12 to enroll in the Conservation Reserve Program. Deadline is April 6. CRP is a voluntary program available to agricultural producers to help them use environmentally sensitive land for conservation benefits. Producers enrolled in CRP plant long-term, resource-conserving covers to improve the quality of water, control soil erosion and develop wildlife habitat. In return, USDA provides participants with rental payments and cost-share assistance. For more information, visit the FSA service center on Sportsman Lake Road, Elizabethtown or www.fsa.usda.gov.
ACRE continues through June 1
Enrollment for Average Crop Revenue Election Program or the traditional Direct and Counter-cyclical Program runs through June 1. For more information about DCP and ACRE programs or other FSA programs, contact the FSA office at 765-2702 or visit www.fsa.usda.gov/KY.

Dead animal pickup
For dead animal pickup, call Bluegrass Recycling at 1-888-744-1186. The cost is $87.50 and the LaRue County Conservation District will reimburse the landowner 75 percent of the cost with receipt. For more information, call the Conservation District office at 358-3132.
