CAIP grant applications
Applications for the LaRue County Agricultural Investment Program administered by the LaRue County Beef Cattle Association, will be available Aug. 18 at the LaRue County Cooperative Extension Service Office, 807 Old Elizabethtown Road, Hodgenville. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16. Dyan Puckett is project administrator.

Southern States holds membership meeting
Southern States Hardin Cooperative, Inc. will hold their annual membership meeting Aug. 23 at 310 West Water Street, Hodgenville. Membership day activities start at 11 a.m. with the business meeting at noon.  

ACRE deadline extended
The 2010 Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) production certification deadline has been extended to Sept. 1.
Compensation may be extended to female or Hispanic farmers
If you are a female farmer or rancher or a Hispanic farmer or rancher and you believe that the United States Department of Agriculture improperly denied farm loan benefits to you for certain time periods between 1981 and 2000 because of your gender or race, you may be eligible to apply for compensation.
Potential claimants can register to receive a claims package by calling the Farmer and Rancher Call Center at 1-888-508-4429 or visiting www.farmerclaims.gov. Claimants have until Aug. 25 to register to receive a claims package.

Emergency loans available
LaRue County has been declared a “contiguous county” due to damages and losses caused by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred April 22-May 20. Eligible family farmers may qualify for FSA EM loan assistance pursuant to Section 321(a) of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act.
EM loan applications for physical and production losses will be received through Feb. 1, 2012 and applications pending on that date may be processed and completed.
