State Fair entry
The Kentucky State Fair will be Aug. 18-28, but entry deadlines are as follows: Open livestock entries must be postmarked by July 10. Open Show livestock may enter after July 10 by paying a double entry fee, but no open livestock entries will be accepted after July 25. Rabbit entries must be postmarked by July 18. Most entries can be made at www.kystatefair.org.

The LaRue County Pork Association will meet 7 p.m. July 18 at the LaRue County Extension Office in Hodgenville. A meal will be served. All interested individuals are invited to attend.
Goat and Sheep Producers meet July 19
LaRue County Goat and Sheep Producers will meet 6:30 p.m. July 19 at the LaRue County Extension Office in Hodgenville. Members will make final plans for goat and sheep related activities at the LaRue County Fair. There will be a potluck meal with goat barbecue and lamb kabobs provided. All interested individuals are invited.
The nomination period for local Farm Service Agency county committees ends Aug. 1. To be eligible to serve on an FSA county committee, a person must participate or cooperate in a program administered by FSA, be eligible to vote in a county committee election and reside in the local administrative area in which the person is a candidate. The 2010 Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) production certification deadline has been extended to Sept. 1.
LaRue County has been declared a “contiguous county” due to damages and losses caused by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred April 22-May 20. Eligible family farmers may qualify for FSA EM loan assistance pursuant to Section 321(a) of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act.
EM loan applications for physical and production losses will be received through Feb. 1, 2012 and applications pending on that date may be processed and completed.
