Pork producers meet
The LaRue County Pork Association will meet 7 p.m. Feb. 17 at the LaRue County Extension office in Hodgenville. All interested individuals are invited to attend.
Farmers market planning
A meeting to discuss a LaRue County farmers market, or ag market days will be 1:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the LaRue County Extension office. Previous and potential vendors of the farmers market or last year’s ag market day are encouraged to attend the meeting.
Kentucky Alfalfa Conference
The 34th Kentucky Alfalfa Conference will be held at the WKU Expo Center in Bowling Green on Feb. 20. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and is $15 per person. FFA alumni, supporter reception
LaRue County FFA will host an alumni and supporter reception 5:30 Feb. 20 at the ag shop at LaRue County High School. Information about being involved in the newly revamped alumni chapter will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Plans are underway to show appreciation to supporters during National FFA Week. Beginning Organic Methods for Home Vegetable Growers
A “beginning organic methods for home vegetable growers” class, part of the Gardener’s Toolbox Series, will be 6 p.m. Feb. 20 at Hardin County Extension Service, 201 Peterson Dr., Elizabethtown. Cost is $5. For more information, call 270-765-4121.
Beef management calendars
Beef integrated resource management calendars are free at the LaRue County Extension office. These multipurpose calendars cover Jan. 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, and each month contains suggested management practices for spring calving herds, fall calving herds, for all cattle, forages, the environment, recording keeping and management. Due dates are listed for days during recommended breeding seasons and a gestation table for all dates is included. Drop by the Extension office for a copy.
