Farmers in 90 counties, including LaRue County, are eligible for Federal disaster assistance including low interest emergency loans from USDA’s Farm Service Agency provided eligibility requirements are met.
On May 28, President Obama declared LaRue County a disaster area due to damages by severe storms and flooding that occurred May 1.
EM loan applications for physical and production losses will be received through Jan. 24, 2011, and applications pending on that date may be processed and completed. Farmers interested in applying for assistance should contact their local FSA county office at 765-2702.
The U.S. Farm Service Agency is accepting nominations of farmers and ranchers for county. Nominations must be postmarked or received in a local U.S. Department of Agriculture Service Center by Aug. 2. FSA will mail ballots to eligible voters on Nov. 5. Ballots will be due back to the county office by Dec. 6. Newly elected committee members and alternates will take office Jan. 1, 2011. Dead animal pick-up
If you have a dead animal that needs to be removed from your land, call Griffin Industries (1-800-452-3092) or DAR, Inc. (1-888-744-1186). Then take your receipt to the LaRue County Conservation District, 606A N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and qualified producers will be reimbursed 75 percent of the receipt. This offer is retroactive to July 1, 2009.
