An inmate who escaped from the LaRue County Detention Center in June was apprehended Thursday evening.
After walking away from the jail two weeks ago, inmate Steven Earl McWilliams, 32, of Louisville, was arrested at 5:40 p.m. July 8 in Shepherdsville, according to Joey Stanton, who was named chief administrative officer for the jail effective July 1.
McWilliams, a low-custody-level inmate, escaped from the LaRue County Jail on June 26 through a restricted custody fenced area. He was the fourth LaRue County inmate to escape since April 2009.
