College will serve as host site for first time

If you’ve ever had questions about hybrid or electric vehicles or just curious about what it might be like to drive one, you will have the opportunity to satisfy your curiosity Oct. 15.

Alternative transportation technologies will be showcased at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s automotive/diesel department as part of an innovative national event.

Although Odyssey Day has been celebrated every other year since 2002, this is the first year that ECTC has had the opportunity to participate as a host site.

“We are very excited to bring this event to our campus and our communities,” said Jerry Clemons, associate professor, auto/diesel, and coordinator of the local Odyssey Day program. “It gives some of our local car dealerships the chance to talk to the public about the latest technology they are offering in their vehicles, and gives people the opportunity to see and test drive a variety of vehicles in one location. Clean, efficient technology is becoming increasingly important and viable in our vehicles, and people are demanding more information about those options. We hope that people will take advantage of this special event to learn more about how they can save fuel and help the environment at the same time.”

The first 200 visitors to Odyssey Day will receive free environmentally-friendly canvas shopping bags and other giveaways. Participating dealerships will provide information and door prizes. Refreshments will be available.

ECTC’s Odyssey Day is 2-6 p.m. Oct. 15 in the automotive/diesel department in the Occupational/Technical Building. For more information, call Jerry Clemons at 270-706-8652.
