Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will offer another free seminar Monday to assist people who have lost jobs. ECTC has offered several such workshops over the past year as more and more local companies trim payrolls. “We just continue to do them as more people get laid off,” college spokeswoman Mary Jo King said. LaRue County’s unemployment rate jumped to 8.5 percent in December, up from 6.8 percent a month earlier. The rate was 4.9 percent in December 2007. Of a 7,044 workforce, 600 people were without jobs.
