Brigitte Skaggs, LaRue County’s Distinguished Young Woman contestant, traveled to Lexington Sunday to prepare for preliminary judging.

The state program is Jan. 17-18 at the Singletary Center for the Arts in Lexington.

Skaggs, the daughter of Mike and Denise Skaggs of Hodgenville, competed as an at-large entrant for counties without programs in September. She will be staying with a Lexington family and taking field trips to various organizations.

The first preliminary round in the state program will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17. During that round, Skaggs will be performing the fitness routine and participating in the self-expression portion of the program. She’ll perform her talent during the second preliminary round at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.

Skaggs sang and played ukulele in the at-large competition.

The finalists will return to perform again at 8 p.m. Jan. 18.
