Disappointed with county fair

-A A +A

As I sit down to write this letter, I’m not sure where to start. I gathered up my family Saturday evening to have an awesome time at the fair. Despite the rain chances, we went anyway.

Once we got there, my little kids rode some kiddie rides. Then we proceeded deeper into the midway. Wow! Not an excited wow, but wow, look at the shape of this midway. Sad. My kids probably will never get to experience a fair like I and many others did as kids. Several rides were either half set up or set up and not running. The ones that were working were partially broken. The games were overly priced ($3 to $5). We played five games (two kids), mind you. It cost about $50. There were only two rides I and my husband would’ve even considered getting on, The Temptest and Scrambler.

The cost of a drink, chicken-on-a-stick and cheese fries was $15.

Why is this? Surrounding counties have awesome fairs. We used to. Where’s the Pirate Ship, swings, Super Loop, Tilt-o-Whirl and Gravitron? The highlight was the rain, because at least we got an old fashioned mud run, which people complained was two hours late.

Is it funding? Or just the lack of interest on the fair board’s behalf?
