The LaRue County Cooperative Extension Service is teaming up with the Lincoln Trail District Health Department to hold a series of four weekly classes on “Taking Ownership of Your Diabetes.”
In Kentucky, about 366,000 adults have diagnosed diabetes and an estimated 226,000 adults have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes and are at very high risk for developing the disease.
About 25 percent of Kentucky's Medicaid budget goes toward treating the complications of type 2 diabetes.
