Cpl. Chester Rock, technician fifth grade, was drafted in December 1942 along with several other young men from LaRue County. He served until November 1945 following the surrender in Europe. He was in “The Liberators,” the 14th Infantry Division in Europe during some of the heaviest combat to secure France and Germany. He distinguished himself in combat and earned the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge among others.
