Ordered to serve sentence

Ben E. Poore (1964) was ordered to serve his sentence in a 2006 case of criminal possession of a forged instrument. The judge noted “defendant provided no excuse.”

 

Charges dismissed

Numerous charges against Sharon Fitts (1977) were dismissed without prejudice July 2 in LaRue Circuit Court. Fitts had been charged with unlawful transaction with a minor, first degree, and complicity; endangering the welfare of a minor; and first-degree sexual abuse and complicity. The charges could be reinstated based on further investigation.

 

Pleaded guilty

Amy Gaines (1981) pleaded guilty July 2 in LaRue Circuit Court to one count of failure to report change in order to receive benefits. The Commonwealth Attorney recommended five years to be pretrial diverted for five years or until restitution is paid in full, whichever is longer. Presentencing investigation ordered. Final sentencing is Aug. 20.

 

Failed to appear

Charles McLain (1991) failed to appear June 29 in LaRue Circuit Court. A bench warrant was issued, no bond. He was charged earlier this year with defrauding a secured creditor.

 

Plea entered

Jeffery L. Purdam (1977) pleaded guilty June 29 in LaRue Circuit Court to a charge of promoting contraband, first degree. He was charged with bringing synthetic drugs into the jail. Recommended sentence is three years to be probated five years. A count of second-degree persistent felony offender was dismissed.  Sentence to run concurrently. Presentencing investigation ordered.

 

Misdemeanor plea

Ivan Alejandro Acosta Rodriguez (1989) pleaded guilty June 29 in LaRue Circuit Court to a misdemeanor charge of sexual misconduct. Conditional discharge order signed. The sentence is conditionally discharged after two years. He was fined $385. Charges of unlawful transaction with a minor and third-degree rape were dismissed.

 

Pleaded guilty

Anthony J. Blackford (1981) pleaded guilty to a count of complicity, receiving stolen property over $300 with a recommended sentence of five years June 29 in LaRue Circuit Court. The sentence is pretrial diverted. Charges of  theft by deception and complicity were dismissed. Final sentencing is Aug. 7.

James Merritt Curtsinger (1947) pleaded guilty to a charge of defrauding a secured creditor over $100 June 29 in LaRue Circuit Court. Recommended sentence is three years to be probated. Final sentencing is Aug. 7.

Coleman Ferris (1968) pleaded guilty June 29 in LaRue Circuit Court to an amended count of attempt to manufacture meth with a recommended sentence of five years; two counts of complicity, possession of controlled substance, first degree with a recommended sentence of three years; complicity, buy or possession of drug paraphernalia with a recommended sentence of six months; and complicity, controlled substance not in original container with a recommended sentence of 90 days with all time to run concurrently for five years. All other counts were dismissed. Final sentencing conducted. Probation denied.

 

Sentenced to five years

George Gaunt (1988) pleaded guilty to second-degree escape and unauthorized use of motor vehicle June 29 in LaRue Circuit Court. He accepted a sentence of five years and was fined $355.

 

Diverted sentence

Jerry Ray Sterling (1967) pleaded guilty to a count of flagrant nonsupport June 29 in LaRue Circuit Court. Recommended sentence is five years to be pretrial diverted. Final sentencing is Aug. 7.

Johnny Wood (1951) pleaded guilty June 29 in LaRue Circuit Court to an amended count of attempt to manufacture meth (recommended sentence of five years); two counts of complicity, possession of controlled substance, first degree (methamphetamine) (recommended sentence of three years); complicity, buy or possession of drug paraphernalia (recommended sentence of six months); and controlled substance not in original container (recommended sentence of 90 days) with all time to run concurrently for a total of five years. Other counts dismissed. Final sentencing is Aug. 7.

 

Failed to appear

Rachel Hersker failed to appear July 16 in LaRue Circuit Court. A bench warrant was issued and bond set at $160. She was declared a fugitive. She has been charged with flagrant non-support.

 

Probation revoked

Rachel Lee McConnell (1982) had probation revoked July 16 in LaRue Circuit Court. She has been charged with flagrant non-support.

 

Final sentencing

Billie McKinney (1984) was sentenced to five years for first-degree wanton endangerment; and seven years for second-degree assault July 16 in LaRue Circuit Court. He was fined $355.

 

In contempt

Megan Brea Wilson (1987) failed to obtain her pre-sentencing investigation. She was found in contempt July 16 in LaRue Circuit Court. She will be held at the LaRue County jail until final sentencing. She was charged with flagrant non-support.

 

Final sentencing

Anthony Wayne Fitts, 36, was sentenced to five years July 16 in LaRue Circuit Court after pleading guilty to amended counts of second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor and second-degree sexual abuse. He was credited for 273 days served. He was fined $385 and required to register as a sex offender.

 

Guilty plea

Meagan Floyce Hall (1985) pleaded guilty to flagrant non-support July 16 in LaRue Circuit Court. Recommended sentence is five years to be conditionally discharged for five years. Pre-sentencing investigation ordered. Final sentencing is Aug. 20.

 

Final sentencing

Terrico D’Jondra Perry (1980) was sentenced to one year and fined $385 on one count of theft of identity of another without consent; and six months on a count of theft by unlawful taking or disposition.

Ronald W. Skaggs (1989) was sentenced to five years, suspended and probated, on a count of third-degree rape July 16 in LaRue Circuit Court. He was fined $385 and credited with 64 days served.

 

Final sentencing

Joshua J. Whalin (1982) was sentenced July 16 in LaRue Circuit Court to three years. He pleaded guilty to first-degree possession of controlled substance (sentenced to three years); possession of marijuana (sentenced to 90 days); buy or possession of drug paraphernalia (sentenced to 12 months); controlled substance, prescription, not in original container (sentenced to 90 days); and alcohol intoxication in a public place (sentenced to 20 days). The sentence was probated. He was credited for 85 days served.
