Items can be taken to LaRue County Maintenance Barn

By Jill Gray

This year Commonwealth Cleanup Week is March 22-28. LaRue County's annual spring cleanup days are set for noon-4 p.m. March 27 and 8 a.m.-noon March 28 at the LaRue County Maintenance Barn across from LaRue County Middle School.

Bulky furniture, appliances, vehicle and equipment batteries (rechargeable), scrap metal, computer equipment and vehicle tires will be accepted for a nominal fee. Things will go quickly, so don’t be afraid of long lines. We will move you in and out quickly, especially if you load your truck or trailer with all like items together.

City of Hodgenville customers may place trash items out on your regular pick-up day Friday. Rumpke will be picking up your items for disposal. If you have recyclable items you will need to call for a pickup. These will not necessarily be picked up if you don’t. Or you may drop them off on Friday or Saturday. Call 358-9903, Ext. 1008, and leave a message with your name, address and phone along with what you expect to have, and we will make sure your items are picked up on Friday or Saturday. Set the items out on Friday morning several feet from the items for Rumpke so that these will get recycled instead of being disposed.

LaRue County customers must bring your items to the maintenance barn on Friday or Saturday. If you are elderly or disabled or for some other reason cannot bring your items in to us, give me a call and we will see if we can pick those up for you. Call 358-9903, Ext. 1008, and leave your name, address, phone and what you have to pick up.  The message line is available 24 hours a day. You will be called to schedule your pickup for this event.

Thanks to those who make this event possible in LaRue County. Hope to see you all there and don’t forget to recycle.
