LaRue County Reads
Volunteer to tutor a child in reading for one-half hour each week at one of the local schools.
Volunteers must attend a short training class. The next training is 10 a.m. Sept. 4 at the Board of Education. Training will last about one hour.

Ancestral Trails – ‘Outhouses’
The Ancestral Trails Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Hardin County Public Library, 100 Jim Owen Drive, Elizabethtown. The program, “Outhouses of Bygone Times,” will be given by Beverly Heath. For more information, call 270-862-3209.
Iron Horse Festival
New Haven’s Rolling Fork Iron Horse Festival is Sept. 14. Booth rentals available by calling 502-549-3177. If you would like to participate in the parade, download a registration form at www.newhaven.ky.gov or pick up a form at New Haven City Hall. The parade will be 2:15 p.m.
Wellness on Wheels
Hardin Memorial Hospital’s Wellness on Wheels mobile health unit will be available 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at Hometown IGA. No charge for blood pressure, blood glucose, body mass index, body fat analysis and weight. Hemoglobin (anemia test) is $5; cholesterol panel is $20. For more information, visit www.hmh.net.

Lincoln Days quilt show

Lincoln Days Art Show
Artists are encouraged to participate in the Lincoln Days Art Show, Sept. 29-Oct. 6. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Sept. 24. Divisions include photography, Lincoln (any medium), open (any medium or subject) and LaRue County. Entry fee is $10 per piece; no fee for LaRue division. FREE MOVIE NIGHT: Old Dogs
Free Movie Night, sponsored by the City of Hodgenville and The LaRue County Herald News, will be 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at Hodgenville Civic Center, 200 S. Lincoln Blvd. The movie will be “Old Dogs.” There is no charge to attend and free popcorn is included.
