Santa’s Helpers Toy Drive

Santa’s Helpers are collecting new and used toys and batteries for the 48th annual Santa Run on Dec. 24. Donations are accepted at Santa’s Workshop, 760 Salem Lake Road, Hodgenville – or a volunteer will pick up the items. Toy collection boxes are available at LaRue County Community Action, all Hodgenville branches of Lincoln National Bank, Family Dollar Store, Dollar General Store, Shopko, Buffalo Bank in Hodgenville and Cub Bank in Hodgenville. Collection boxes for holidays

Cash Express LLC in Hodgenville is collecting toys, canned food and coats. Collection boxes are available at Cash Express, Smoketown II, Smith’s Hardware, IGA Express, Anna B’s, Games R Us or Pizza Zone in Buffalo. Used coats will be cleaned by Cash Express. Items will be distributed by LaRue County Community Action and the Santa Bus.

 

Ribbon-cutting at All the Way Plumb

The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting at noon Nov. 21 at All the Way Plumb Bed & Breakfast, 4213 Tanner Road, Hodgenville.

 

Deadline for Santa letters

Deadline for Santa letters is noon on Friday, Nov. 21 to publish in the annual Christmas section of The LaRue County Herald News. Letters can be mailed to the newspaper at 40 Shawnee Drive, Hodgenville, KY 42748, or emailed to editor@laruecountyherald.com. They will be published in the Dec. 24 issue.

 

Dance at Senior Center

A dance will be held 7-10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at the LaRue County Senior Center, 112 N. Walters Ave., Hodgenville. The Prime Time Band will play a variety of country classics. For more information, call Jim Walters at 270-737-5655.

 

Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees fundraiser, sponsored by the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce, The Lincoln Museum and Hodgenville Woman’s Club, will be Nov. 19-22. Viewing and bidding on holiday items will be held in the Lincoln Museum Community Room and will conclude at the chili supper on Nov. 22. The community room will be open noon-6 p.m. Nov. 19; 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 20-21; and noon to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22, following the chili supper and silent auction. Open Sew Day

Open Sew Day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 24 at the LaRue County Extension office, 807 Old Elizabethtown Road, Hodgenville. Volunteers are working on detachable bibs for residents of Sunrise Manor. The next project is lap quilts for Hosparus clients. For more information, call 270-358-3401.

A program, “Alzheimer's for Caregivers: Middle Stage,” will be held 9:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 25 at Hardin County Public Library, 100 Jim Owens Dr., Elizabethtown. Caregivers and professionals will discuss helpful strategies to provide, safe and effective care to those in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s. Registration required; suggested $5 donation. New Haven’s Christmas parade will be 4 p.m. Nov. 30.

Light Up Hodgenville will be 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5. Live music and lighting of the community Christmas tree.
