Chamber needs State Fair volunteers

South Central Kentucky Outdoor Expo
The South Central Kentucky Outdoor Expo will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. central time on Aug. 2 at Adair County High School, 526 Indian Dr., Columbia. The expo will feature 100 booths, a display of the largest whitetail deer taken in Kentucky last season, and is host to the NWTF State Turkey Calling and Still Target Championships. There is a $5 admission fee for adults; children 12 and under are free. The expo is a non-profit outreach event supported by Jones Chapel UMC. Rolling Thunder meets
Rolling Thunder, Inc., Kentucky Chapter Four, will meet 2 p.m. Aug. 3 in the Colvin Community Center, 230 Freedoms Way, Radcliff. Meetings are open to the public and dues are $30 per year. Many members are veterans and ride motorcycles, but you don’t need to be a veteran or ride a bike to join. The Faith home school group will have its annual kickoff at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 800 Rhodes Drive, Elizabethtown. Hardin Memorial Hospital’s Wellness on Wheels mobile health unit will be available 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at Hometown IGA. There is no charge for blood pressure, blood glucose, body fat analysis, body mass index and weight. Cholesterol panel is $20. For more information, visit www.hmh.net.
Hosparus volunteers needed
Hosparus needs patient and family support volunteers in the Central Kentucky area and will offer a free training session, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 26 at its Elizabethtown office, 105 Diecks Dr. (lunch provided). Volunteers provide companionship to patients and respite for their families, usually two-to-three hours per week, in private homes and nursing or assisted living facilities. Central Kentucky Art Guild workshop
The Central Kentucky Art Guild will host a watercolor workshop on flower painting 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 6 at the CKAG Studio, 790 No. Dixie, Suite 900, Elizabethtown. Up to 20 can attend. Marilyn Matthews, an award-winning watercolorist, will be the instructor. She also plans to cover color theory and mixing before the workshop begins. The fee is $25 if paid before Aug. 30, and $30 thereafter, payable only by check made out to CKAG or cash. Lunch is not included. Coffee and water are free. The mobile mammogram unit from James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville will be at the LaRue County Extension Service 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 3. Call 270-358-3401 for an
appointment. The cost is $84 for those without insurance.Those with insurance should bring your card and it will be turned in to your insurance. The mobile unit has digital mammography equipment. This is co-sponsored by the County Extension Homemaker organization.
