  No meeting for Friends of the Library

The Friends of the LaRue County Public Library will not meet in January.

 Boyhood Home closed

The Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek, part of the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park is now closed due to construction. For more information, visit www.nps.gov/abli.

 

CLASS: Windows 8.1

The LaRue County Public Library will present a class on Windows 8.1 at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 8. Bring your laptop computer. Call to pre-register at 270-358-3851.

 

Classes offered at Community Education

LaRue County Schools Community Education will offer the following classes at the LaRue County Board of Education, 208 College Street, Hodgenville: yoga, zumba, and core fusion – gut and butt. Preregistration is required for all classes; cost is $5 per class. Call Connie Goff at 270-769-8686. Class dates and times will be set to satisfy the majority of participants once sufficient enrollment is reached.

Extension District Board

Blood drives in Hodgenville and Sonora

A blood drive will be held 3-8 p.m. Jan. 12 at Hodgenville Elementary School; and 3-7 p.m. Jan. 13 at First Baptist Church, 709 Main Street, Sonora.

 

Open Sew Day

Open Sew Day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 12 at the LaRue County Extension office, 807 Old Elizabethtown Road, Hodgenville. The group will make items to sell at Expo. For more information, call 270-358-3401.

 

Village Post Office opens in Sonora

The Kentuckiana District of the U.S. Postal Service will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newest Village Post Office at 10 a.m. Jan. 13, at Sonora Farm Supply, 189 S. Maple St., Sonora.

 

Relay for Life

LaRue County Relay for Life will meet 6 p.m. Jan. 19 at Hodgenville First Baptist Church in the Mary Martha Sunday school classroom. Any group or individual interested in forming a team needs to attend this meeting as the team formation deadline is drawing near. LaRue County Band reunion

The LaRue County Band Boosters are hosting a 60th anniversary band reunion on Jan. 23 at the LaRue County High School Basketball Homecoming Game. All LCHS Band Alumni are invited to attend the game and reception to follow in the band room. For more information, call Price Smith at 270-358-3178.

Lincoln birthday celebration

In honor of Abraham Lincoln's 206th birthday, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony 10 a.m. Feb. 12 at Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park. At 10:30 a.m., a Lincoln life mask exhibit will open at the park. From noon to 1 p.m., the Lincoln Birthday Luncheon will be held at Ovesen Heights Baptist Church, 1604 Bardstown Road, Hodgenville.
