Santa’s Helpers need toys
Ann “Snookie” Morrison and Santa’s Helpers are collecting toys for children of all ages for Christmas. They are in need of new and used toys and batteries to be given away. For pick up, call Morrison at 270-234-3313 or drop off items at Santa’s Shop at 760 Salem Lake Road, Hodgenville.
Toys also may be dropped in the Santa’s Helper box at Dollar General Store, Lincoln National Bank, Bank of Buffalo, LaRue County Chamber of Commerce, Hodgenville Grill or Magnolia Mall.

Courthouse closing early
The LaRue County Courthouse will close at noon Dec. 7 due to installation of electrical components for the new backup generator.

WORKSHOPS: Introduction to Microsoft Word
The LaRue County Public Library Workforce Center will hold a free workshop, Introduction to Microsoft Word, at 1 p.m. Dec. 9. For more information, call the library at 358-3851.
FREE EVENT: Magic Show
Dinky Gowen will host his annual Kids Day Christmas Party 2-4 p.m. Dec. 11 at LaRue County Park and Recreation building. Magic show and costume characters will be there for a meet and greet. Yogi Bear will be the special guest. No charge to attend.

Holiday storytelling at Lincoln Museum
The Lincoln Museum on Lincoln Square, Hodgenville, will host a free Christmas storytelling hour 1:30 p.m. Dec. 11 for children.

The LaRue County Extension Office is hosting a sewing class 10 a.m. Dec. 12. A representative from Hosparus is teaching a class on how to make a new style of comfort cap for their clients. Hosparus will supply free fabric for volunteers to make caps at home. For more information, call Master Clothing Volunteer Rosa Smith at 358-9049.

Board of Health to meet
The LaRue County Board of Health will meet at noon Dec. 14 at the LaRue County Extension Office. For more information, call 358-3844.

Blood drive at Woman’s Club
A blood drive will be held noon-5 p.m. Dec. 13 at Hodgenville Woman’s Club, 19 Lincoln Square.

Christmas concert at Sunrise Manor
Sunrise Manor Nursing Home will have a Christmas concert 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 with Ronnie Benningfield, Eddie Black and Camille Turner. Open to the community.

FREE CLASS: Managing Your Meals
Classes on managing meals will be held 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Lincoln Trail District Health Department, 108 New Glendale Road, Elizabethtown, for people who have been told they have diabetes, need to lose weight or need to learn to eat healthy. Morning class will go over how to follow a meal plan; the follow-up class will go over how individuals are doing with meal plans and teach a new topic including sticking to the plan, label reading, exercise and portion size. Classes are conducted by a registered dietitian or nurse. Call 769-1601 ext. 1035 to register.

Free Movie Night: Miracle on 34th Street
The movie classic “Miracle on 34th Street” will be featured at Free Movie Night Saturday, Dec. 17. The 1947 black and white film will be shown at 7 p.m. at the Hodgenville Civic Center and is co-sponsored by the City and The LaRue County Herald News. Free Movie Night includes free popcorn and drinks.
Magnolia Lions Club changes meeting place
