 Poinsettia drawing at library

The LaRue County Public Library is holding a reading incentive during December by giving away a poinsettia each week. For every book you read, you can complete a ticket to have your name put in for the drawing. The more books you read, the more chances you have for winning. Drawings will be held each Friday.  


Extension Office closed for holiday

The LaRue County Extension Office will be closed Dec. 24 to Jan. 1; and Jan. 21.


Circuit Clerk’s office closes for holidays

The LaRue County Circuit Clerk’s office will be closed Dec. 29, Dec. 31-Jan. 1 and Jan. 21.

Recycling Center closes for holidays

LaRue County’s Renaissance Recycling Center, 290 E. Water St., Hodgenville, will be closed Dec. 31-Jan. 1. Overflow trailers will be placed at the city parking lot for drop-offs.


Rolling Thunder to meet

Rolling Thunder, Inc., Kentucky Chapter Four, will meet 2 p.m. Jan. 6 in the Colvin Community Center, 230 Freedoms Way, Radcliff. Dues are $30 per year. Anyone can join, even though many members are veterans and ride motorcycles, you don’t need to be a veteran or ride a bike to join. The major function of Rolling Thunder is to publicize the POW/MIA issue and helping the homeless and disabled veterans of all wars and other veterans’ issues. Grand jury dates change

Meetings of the LaRue County grand jury has been changed for January. The grand jury will meet Jan. 7; it will not meet Jan. 21.


Serger class at Extension Office

A serger class with Master Clothing Volunteer Rosa Smith will be 10 a.m. Jan. 14 at the LaRue County Extension Office. For more information, call Smith at 358-9049.


Blood drive in Hodgenville

A blood drive will be 3-8 p.m. Jan. 14 at Hodgenville Elementary School, 33 Eagle Lane, Hodgenville.


Blood drive in Sonora

A blood drive will be 3-7 p.m. Jan. 15 at First Baptist Church, 709 Main Street, Sonora.


Vietnam Veterans of America to meet

Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1051, The Gold Vault Patriots, will meet 2 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Nolin RECC conference room, 411 Ring Road, Elizabethtown. Membership is open to all Vietnam and Vietnam era veterans (August 1964-May 1975). Bring DD 214 copy and $20 for membership dues. County Extension Council Leadership and Awards Banquet

The LaRue County Extension Council Leadership and Awards Banquet is 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the LaRue County Extension Office. Meal is $6; South Fork Homemakers will cater. Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer will speak. Call the Extension Office at 358-3401 to reserve a seat. Nominations for an individual or group for the annual Award of Excellence for leadership or community service must be turned in by Jan. 7.
