Poinsettia drawing at library
The LaRue County Public Library is holding a reading incentive during December by giving away a poinsettia each week. For every book you read, you can complete a ticket to have your name put in for the drawing. The more books you read, the more chances you have for winning. Drawings will be held each Friday.
FREE WORKSHOP: Introduction to Word

PROGRAM: Managing meals
Have you been told you have diabetes, need to lose weight or just need to learn how to eat healthy? The program “Managing Your Meals” will be 1:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Lincoln Trail District Health Department, 108 New Glendale Road, Elizabethtown.
The initial class will go over how to follow a meal plan and gather necessary information to develop a meal plan for each individual.
Registration is required by calling 270-769-1601, Ext. 1035. Time and date are subject to change and group will not meet if Hardin or LaRue County Schools are closed for weather.
Recycling Center closes for holidays
LaRue County’s Renaissance Recycling Center, 290 E. Water St., Hodgenville, will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1. Overflow trailers will be placed at the city parking lot for drop-offs.
Circuit Clerk’s office closes for holidays
The LaRue County Circuit Clerk’s office will be closed Dec. 22, Dec. 24-25, Dec. 29, Dec. 31-Jan. 1 and Jan. 21.
Santa’s Helpers
Snookie Morrison and Santa’s Helpers are collecting new and gently used toys and batteries for the 46th annual Santa Run on Dec. 24. Donations are accepted at Santa’s Workshop, 760 Salem Lake Road, Hodgenville, or one of the volunteers will pick up the items.
Donation boxes are available at LaRue County Chamber of Commerce, Dollar General Store, Lincoln National Bank (Parkway and Main offices) and both offices of Buffalo Bank. For more information or to volunteer, call Ann “Snookie” Morrison at 234-3313.
Extension Office closed for holiday
The LaRue County Extension Office will be closed Dec. 24 to Jan. 1; and Jan. 21.
FREE MOVIE NIGHT: Joyful Noise

Rolling Thunder to meet
Rolling Thunder, Inc., Kentucky Chapter Four, will meet 2 p.m. Jan. 6 in the Colvin Community Center, 230 Freedoms Way, Radcliff. Dues are $30 per year. Anyone can join, even though many members are veterans and ride motorcycles, you don’t need to be a veteran or ride a bike to join. The major function of Rolling Thunder is to publicize the POW/MIA issue and helping the homeless and disabled veterans of all wars and other veterans’ issues. Meetings of the LaRue County grand jury has been changed for January. The grand jury will meet Jan. 7; it will not meet Jan. 21.

A blood drive will be 3-8 p.m. Jan. 14 at Hodgenville Elementary School, 33 Eagle Lane, Hodgenville.

A blood drive will be 3-7 p.m. Jan. 15 at First Baptist Church, 709 Main Street, Sonora.
Vietnam Veterans of America to meet
Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1051, The Gold Vault Patriots, will meet 2 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Nolin RECC conference room, 411 Ring Road, Elizabethtown. Membership is open to all Vietnam and Vietnam era veterans (August 1964-May 1975). Bring DD 214 copy and $20 for membership dues.
