District Court canceled
LaRue District Court has been canceled for Aug. 27. Any cases scheduled for that date will be continued to Sept. 3.
Community forum: Quality of Life
The Lincoln Trail Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living, in conjunction with the Lincoln Trail Elder Abuse Council, will host a community forum 2:30-4 p.m. Aug. 28 at 613 College Street Road, Elizabethtown. The forum, “Quality of Life and Care for Elder and Disabled Residents,” is open to the public, providing an opportunity to receive comments and suggestions regarding long-term care in this region. CLASS: Crockpot Cooking
The LaRue County Public Library will have a class on crockpot cooking 5-6 p.m. Aug. 28. Patty Holbert from the LaRue County Extension Service will bring new ideas and recipes.
Dance: Prime Time Band to perform

Central Kentucky Art Guild workshop
The Central Kentucky Art Guild will host a watercolor workshop on flower painting 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 6 at the CKAG Studio, 790 No. Dixie, Suite 900, Elizabethtown. Marilyn Matthews, an award-winning watercolorist, will be the instructor.
The fee is $25 if paid before Aug. 30, and $30 thereafter, payable only by check made out to CKAG or cash. Lunch is not included. Coffee and water are free.

Rolling Thunder to meet in Radcliff
Rolling Thunder Inc., Kentucky Chapter Four, will meet at 2 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Colvin Community Center, 230 Freedoms Way, Radcliff.

School board to consider tax rate
The LaRue County Board of Education will hold a public hearing 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 in the LaRue County High School library to hear public comments about a proposed general fund tax levy of 47.2 cents on real and personal property.
CLASS: Basic Serger
A basic serger class will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 15 at the LaRue County Extension office. Lunch is on your own. Cost is $10. Register by Sept. 11. Rolling Fork Iron Horse Festival
New Haven’s Iron Horse Festival is Sept. 13. The parade begins at 2:15 p.m. Stage shows, car show, music, silent auction, arts and crafts booths available 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Wellness on Wheels
Hardin Memorial Hospital’s Wellness on Wheels mobile health unit will be available 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Hometown IGA. There is no charge for blood pressure, blood glucose, body fat analysis, body mass index and weight. Hemoglobin test for anemia is $5. Cholesterol panel is $20. The LaRue County Health Clinic will hold a flu shot clinic 9-11:30 a.m. Sept. 18 and Oct. 2 at the LaRue County Extension office.
Open Sew Day
Open Sew Day with the Nifty Needles (sewing group) is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 22 at the LaRue County Extension office. The community service project is making bibs for nursing home residents. For more information, call 270-358-3401.
Lincoln Days Art Show: Call for entries
The 43rd annual Lincoln Days Art Show is Sept. 28-Oct. 5. Cost is $10 for each work submitted or $25 for three entries. Divisions are photography, Lincoln, open and LaRue County. Submission deadline is Sept. 23. Application can be downloaded at www.lincolndays.org/events/art-show.
