 Democratic Woman’s Club

The LaRue County Democratic Woman’s Club will meet jointly with LaRue County Democrats at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 in the small courtroom at the LaRue County Courthouse. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend. For more information, contact Celia McDonald at 358-4234 or 402-3414. 


LaRue County Reads needs volunteers

Volunteer to tutor a child in reading for one-half hour each week at one of the local schools. Volunteers must attend a short training class. The next training will be 10 a.m. Aug. 31 at the Board of Education. Training will last about one hour. Mobile Mammogram Unit 

The mobile mammogram unit from the Brown Cancer Center in Louisville will be at the LaRue County Extension Service office on Sept. 4. 

Appointments between 1 and 3 p.m. are available. Call 358-3401 to schedule an appointment. Cost is $158.65 for those without insurance. Those with insurance should bring your card and the cost will be turned in to your insurance. 

For lower cost mammogram options, contact the County Health Department. The mobile unit has digital mammography equipment. This is co-sponsored by the County Extension Homemaker organization.

Courthouse annex to be closed

The LaRue County Courthouse Annex will be closed Sept. 4 and Oct. 15 as state-mandated furlough days. All Circuit Clerk services, including renewal of driver licenses, will be unavailable. County offices in the main courthouse will be open. 


Veterans’ Employment Classes

The Kentucky Career Center, Office of Employment and Training, will conduct a veterans’ employment class 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 6 at the LaRue County Public Library, 201 South Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville. Senior Arts and Crafts Show

Sunrise Manor’s Silver Angels are sponsoring a senior arts and crafts show. Director Beverly Heath will take entries 1-4 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Lincoln Museum Community Room. Open to any senior citizen who has handcrafted fine art pieces, baskets, ceramics, textiles or needlework. For more information, contact Heath at 358-2147.


Ancestral Trails to meet in Hardin County

Rolling Fork Iron Horse Festival

Rolling Thunder to meet Sept. 9

Rolling Thunder, Inc., Kentucky Chapter Four, will meet 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Community Center, 135 N. Poplar St., Lebanon Junction. Meetings are open to the public and dues are $30 per year. Anyone can join. Many members are veterans and ride motorcycles. The major function of Rolling Thunder Inc. is to publicize the POW/MIA issue and committed to helping homeless and disabled veterans of all wars and other veterans’ issues. Hardin Memorial Hospital’s Wellness on Wheels mobile health unit will be available 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Hometown IGA. Heartland of Kentucky Quilt Show
