 Park volunteer training

Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park will have orientation training for those who wish to volunteer at the park’s visitor information desk noon to 4 p.m. April 10. Class is limited to eight participants. Call the park at 270-358-3137 to make a reservation or more information.


College Earth Fair

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and Hardin County Earthcare Collaborative will present a free event, Earth Fair 2014 “Tomorrow’s Earth is Today’s Responsibility,” noon to 6 p.m. April 10. There will be programs and activities such as sustainable construction methods, energy efficient vehicles display, and a film “The Earth from Above,” showing 3-5 p.m. in Room 212 of the Regional Postsecondary Center. Renaissance Repeats

Renaissance Recycling will have many reusable, recycled items for sale 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 12 and every second Saturday of the month, in the Renaissance Repeats shop located in the Hodgenville Woman’s Club basement, 16 Lincoln Square. Ancestral Trails book fair

Ancestral Trails Historical Society will hold its annual book fair and history jamboree 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 12 at the Pritchard Community Center, 404 S. Mulberry St., Elizabethtown. For more information, call 270-862-3209.


Chamber luncheon

The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce luncheon is at noon on April 16 in the Lincoln Museum Community Room. Sara Jo Best, director of the Lincoln Trail Health District, will speak. RSVP by noon on April 15.

Community Education Awards

Nominations are being accepted for two LaRue County Community Education Awards.  The Community Education Service Award is given to the individual or group that has contributed the most to community education in the last year. The Judy Cox Community Spirit Award is given to an individual or group who demonstrate enthusiasm and a desire to make our community a better place through service. Nominations will be accepted through April 18 and awards will be given at the LaRue County Adult and Community Education Council meeting in June. Goodtime Cruisers Cruise-In

The Goodtime Cruisers will have their first classic car cruise-in 4-8 p.m. April 19 on Lincoln Square. Concessions will be available.


Easter Egg Hunt at Fairgrounds

The LaRue County Fairgrounds will have an Easter egg hunt at noon Saturday, April 19. There will be games, hotdogs and drinks for participating children. The Easter bunny will pay a visit. Wellness on Wheels

Hardin Memorial Hospital’s Wellness on Wheels mobile health unit will be available 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. April 21 at Hometown IGA. There is no charge for blood pressure, blood glucose, body fat analysis, body mass index and weight. Cholesterol panel is $20. Anemia screening is $5; colorectal take-home kit is $5. A blood drive will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. April 27 at New Haven/Rolling Fork Fire Department, 362 Center St.
