Fair pageant
applications

Applications for LaRue County Fair beauty pageants can be picked up at these Hodgenville locations: The LaRue County Herald News, 40 Shawnee Dr.; the LaRue County Extension office, 807 Old E’town Road; and Vanity Hair, 111 West Main St. For more information, call the Fair office at 234-3313 or Sandy Bell at 358-8166. The Fair begins June 14.

Karaoke and dancing
There will be karaoke and dancing 7-11 p.m. June 14 at the old square dance building, 1524 Hodgenville Road, Elizabethtown. All ages welcome. Door prizes and 50/50 drawing. No alcohol. Admission is $3 to go toward building’s rental fee. For information, call Steve and Linda Vincent at 735-5077.

Fair change
The LaRue County Fair Board has set the 2013 LaRue County Fair for June 14-22. A horse show will be June 14; dairy cattle show on June 15; and the carnival arrives June 17.

LaRue County GED Graduation
The LaRue County Adult and Family Education Center will hold a GED graduation ceremony 6 p.m. June 17 in the LaRue County High School auditorium.

Alzheimer’s Association Family Caregiver Workshop
The Alzheimer’s Association Family Caregiver Workshop is 9 a.m.-noon June 19 at the Hardin County Extension Office, 201 Peterson Dr., Elizabethtown. The session will bring together family and friend caregivers with experts in the field of aging and dementia to discuss managing caregiver stress, driving and dementia and programs and community resources.

FREE MOVIE NIGHT: Citizen Kane
Free Movie Night is 7 p.m. June 22 at Hodgenville Civic Center. The movie is “Citizen Kane” with Orson Welles. No charge for admission, drink and popcorn. The black and white movie lasts 119 minutes.

Open Sew Day
Open Sew Day is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 24 at the LaRue County Extension office. The Nifty Needles will stitch weatherproof tote bags for the homeless out of empty bird or animal seed bags. For more information, call Master Clothing Volunteer Rosa Smith at 358-9049.

Blood drive in New Haven
A blood drive will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. June 30 at New Haven/Rolling Fork Fire Department, 362 Center St., New Haven.

Mobile mammogram unit
The mobile mammogram unit from James Graham Brown Cancer Center will be at the LaRue County Extension office 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 3. Call 358-3401 for an appointment. Cost is $79 for those without insurance.

Rolling Thunder to meet
Rolling Thunder, Inc., Kentucky Chapter Four, will meet 2 p.m. July 14 in the Colvin Community Center, 230 Freedoms Way, Radcliff. Meetings are open to the public and dues are $30 per year. For more information, visit http:/rollingthunderkych4.com.
