Santa’s Helpers

Ann Morrison and Santa’s Helpers are collecting toys for children for Christmas. Pick up a tag from the tree at the Chamber of Commerce or Abe’s Country Cooking and buy a toy. Return the toy to the location you picked up your tag or you may purchase a toy at the Dollar Store and use the drop box at the Dollar Store. For pick up, call 234-3313.

Senior Citizens music

The Senior Citizens Center in Hodgenville has music every Saturday night. Musicians and singers are welcome. For more information, call 358-4311 or e-mail viola47@windstream.net.

Library programs

The LaRue County Public Library offers Circle Time at 11 a.m. Tuesdays for 12-36 month olds and Fantastic Friends at 11 a.m. Wednesdays for ages 3-5. Saturday Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments for grades 6-12 will resume in January. A game day is being organized for January. Courthouse holiday schedule

The LaRue County Courthouse will be closed Dec. 25, 26 and 27; Jan. 1, 2 and 3. The courthouse will be open Dec. 31.

Monitoring blood sugar

A class to learn the importance of monitoring your blood sugar will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at the LaRue County Extension Service office. Receive a free meter. Class if free. For more information call Melissa Conder at 769-160, Ext. 1035, to register.

Nutrition class

The Lincoln Trail District Health Department will hold a nutrition class at 9 a.m. Jan. 19 with a follow up class at 11 a.m., held in the LaRue Community room.  Information on healthy eating, control blood sugar and improve your lifestyle. Hardin and LaRue Diabetes Coalition

Open to anyone interested in improving the lives of people affected by diabetes. Class held at the LaRue County Extension Service office. For more information, call Melissa Conder at 769-1601, Ext 1035.

Diabetes Center of Excellence

Free program meets one day each week at the LaRue County Health Department to work with doctors and patients to reduce the risk of complications of diabetes. Call 769-1601, ext. 1035 to complete a screening.

Community Coordinated Child Care

Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) will have a “How to start a family child care home” workshop from 4-5:30 p.m. Jan. 6 at the 4-C office, 54 First St., Elizabethtown for persons interested in starting a certified child care home. Pre-register by calling Alice Brewer at 270-360-9911.

Preserving Family Heirlooms

A class on preserving family heirlooms will be 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Extension Office. Discover the best methods to use in caring for and preserving precious family items to share with family and friends. Class is open to everyone and is sponsored by the County Homemakers organization. No registration is required. Bad weather may require cancellation of class. For more information, call 358-3401.

Zumba classes begin

Zumba classes will be held 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 7-Feb. 10, at the LaRue County Board of Education all purpose room on College Street. Registration is $30. For more information, call Vicki Devers at 358-2011 or 358-4111.
