Free Single Mom’s Oil Change
A free single mom’s oil change and car wash will be provided by Harvestland Community Church 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 16 at the church. Free brunch, childcare and gift included. For more information, call Debbie Ragland at 270-735-6454 or Sandy Lamas at 270-317-4007.
County fall cleanup day is 8 a.m.-noon Oct. 16 at the county maintenance garage on Lincoln Blvd. (across from LaRue County High School). Any scrap metal, appliances, electronics, printer cartridges, vehicle batteries and tires will be accepted. There is a fee for tires. For more information, call Jill Gray at 358-9903.
The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce luncheon will be noon Oct. 20 in the Lincoln Museum Community Room. Patricia Krausman with the Small Business Development Center will speak. Cost is $6 per person. Call the Chamber office at 358-3411 by noon Oct. 18 for reservations.
The program “Managing Your Meals” will be 9-10 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Lincoln Museum Community Room. The initial class will go over how to follow a meal plan, and gather necessary information to develop a meal plan for each individual. A follow-up class is 11 a.m.-noon and reviews how each individual is doing with their meal plans and teach a new topic, including sticking to a meal plan, label reading, exercise and eating.
These classes and meal plans will be conducted by a registered dietitian or nurse depending on topic and availability. Registration is required. For more information or to register for classes, contact Melissa Conder at 769-1601 ext. 1035.
Deadline for business Trick-or-Treat
Any LaRue County business may participate in the Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Trick-or-Treat on the Square Oct. 30. Tour stops open at 5 p.m. Pre-register by Oct. 22 by calling 358-3411.
Trick-or-Treat times set
Trick-or-Treat on the Square and in the city and county, is 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.
The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a costume contest 5 p.m. Oct. 30 on Lincoln Square. Pre-registration by noon Oct. 29 is required. Categories are cutest, funniest, ugliest/scariest and most original. Divisions for all ages; $3 entry fee. Children may enter one category. For more information or to register, call 358-3411.
Veteran’s Day Parade
American Legion Post 87 will sponsor a Veteran’s Day Parade 2 p.m. Nov. 7 with a program and reception immediately following at Hodgenville Civic Center. Anyone interested in participating may pick up a parade application at The LaRue County Herald News, LaRue County Chamber of Commerce or Hodgenville City Hall. Parade applications should be returned to The Herald News or LaRue County Chamber of Commerce by 4 p.m. Oct. 29.
You may submit photographs of service members, living or deceased, to be included on the video during the program following the parade. Include service member’s name and branch of service when dropping off photograph at The Herald News or Chamber. Deadline for submission of photos is 4 p.m. Oct. 22.
