Hardin County Historical Society program and buffet

The Hardin County Historical Society will meet 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the State Theater Gallery, 209 W. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown. The buffet dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.; price is $8.50 per person. It will be followed by a program “The Pioneer Dueling Town’s Old Rebels and Whiskey Legacy” presented by Col. American Legion Post 87 will host a Halloween party 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28.

Trick-or-Treat on the Square and in the city and county, is 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.

Costume contest

The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a costume contest 5 p.m. Oct. 30 on Lincoln Square. Pre-registration by noon Oct. 29 is required. Categories are cutest, funniest, ugliest/scariest and most original. Divisions for all ages; $3 entry fee. Children may enter one category. For more information or to register, call 358-3411.

Veterans Day pancake breakfast

The Election of 1860 to be performed

“The Election of 1860” will be performed 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at Hodgenville Civic Center. The free program is sponsored by Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park and will last 60 to 90 minutes. For more information, call the Park at 358-3137.

Veterans Day Parade

American Legion Post 87 will sponsor a Veteran’s Day Parade 2 p.m. Nov. 7 with a program and reception immediately following at Hodgenville Civic Center. Anyone interested in participating may pick up a parade application at The LaRue County Herald News, LaRue County Chamber of Commerce or Hodgenville City Hall. Parade applications should be returned to The Herald News or LaRue County Chamber of Commerce by 4 p.m. Oct. 29.

You may submit photographs of service members, living or deceased, to be included on the video during a program following the parade. Include service member’s name and branch of service when dropping off photograph at The Herald News or Chamber. Deadline for submission of photos is 4 p.m. Oct. 22.
