Hodgenville Post Office announces holiday hours

The Hodgenville Post Office service window will close at noon Dec. 31. Customers may pick up packages at the back dock until 4:30 p.m. that day. Collection times remain at 5 p.m. both dates. There is a doorbell by the rear cargo doors.

LaRue County Reads volunteer session

Volunteer training for LaRue County Reads will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 5 at the LaRue County Board of Education office. With an investment of as few as 30 minutes a week, you can help children improve reading skills. Diabetes Coalition to meet

The Hardin and LaRue Diabetes Coalition will meet 6 p.m. Jan. 5 at the LaRue County Extension Service office on Old E’town Road. The meeting is open to anyone with interest in improving the lives of people that are affected by diabetes through promotion of early diagnosis, reduction of complications, prevention and elimination of diabetes. Lincoln Heritage Area study

The National Park Service has scheduled a public meeting 5-7 p.m. Jan. 5 at the Lincoln Museum Community Room to discuss the proposed Kentucky Lincoln National Heritage Area. The designation could bring in federal funding for efforts such as revitalization, maintenance and education. To provide input, or for more information, visit: parkplanning.nps.gov/KELI.

Laptop initiative meeting

The LaRue County School Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 7 at LaRue County High School to discuss the laptop initiative called Laptops for LaRue. It seeks to provide computers to high school students.
