COLUMN: Green ideas appreciated, county recycle day is Saturday

-A A +A
By Jill Gray

It is that time of year once again when the rain comes, the leaves fall, and the annual question “What do I do with my leaves?” is on the tip of everyone’s tongue.

This year I am excited to share a new alternative for all of you!  Hunter Purdy, is new to our area and is looking for old straw, hay, leaves and grass clippings so that she can make her own mulch. She is willing to pick-up these wastes from your residence/farm and all she asks is that the leaves and grass clippings are bagged. Hunter is excited to offer this option to our community in order to provide a mutually beneficial service.

As in the past our garbage folks will pick up a few bags per week, during October and November, but this opportunity is a much more environmentally conscious (green) way of using these wastes rather than disposing of these in a landfill.

To contact Hunter with questions or for a pick-up, call her at 859-625-4886 and she will be glad to work with you regarding your natural wastes and to everyone’s convenience. Be sure that there is no litter or garbage in the waste you prepare for her.

Kudos and thanks to Hunter for this great green idea and option.

County recycle day

Of course don’t forget our annual recycle day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the County Maintenance Garage.
