CMH Manufacturing, Inc. Home Building Facility (Clayton Homes) in Hodgenville halted operations Wednesday.
The action is "in direct response to the continuing challenges in the housing market and related economic conditions," according to a statement from Dave Kerschbaum of CMH.
Team members were given 60 days paid notice in accordance with the Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
LaRue County Judge/Executive Tommy Turner called Clayton’s closure “a tragic situation for the employees and their families.”
Don Davis, group vice president, said the sales teams "will be working together to offer options for providing product from other company facilities."
CMH Manufacturing Inc. builds and distributes homes to more than 1,600 retailers nationwide.
About 140 employees are affected by the closure.
