Classical guitar concert planned at ECTC

Free concert is April 3

Kevin Shank, Christina Shank, Andrew Rhinehart and Jacqueline Hawkins will be performing a free classical guitar concert with special guests 3 p.m. April 3 in the Science Auditorium of Elizabethtown Community College. The concert is free and open to the public.

Kevin Shank retired from the Army Band in 2005 and pursued a Master’s degree in classical guitar performance from the University of Louisville. While in the Army, Kevin had the opportunity to perform for many dignitaries including George H.W. Bush, Colin Powell and Ambassador Shirley Temple-Black. 

Shank is an instructor at ECTC. He and his wife Christina have two children, Jonathan and Amanda.

Christina Shank retired from the Army Band in 2001 and holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from Western Kentucky University. She is employed by the Veterans Administration on Fort Knox. She performs regularly with her church, and is currently serving on the board for the Advocacy Center in Elizabethtown.

Hawkins holds a Master’s degree in English from Florida State University, is an Associate Professor of English at ECTC and serves as Minister of Music at Jefferson Baptist Church in Louisville.

Rhinehart is currently finishing his Master’s degree from the University of Louisville in classical guitar performance. He has been teaching guitar for the University of Louisville Community Music Program since 2008, and has been an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University Southeast since the fall of 2010.
