On June 28, 2013, Kentucky State Police executed a search warrant on Hodgenville City Hall. They seized numerous financial and personnel records – the contents of which led to the indictments of then mayor Terry L. Cruse and former city clerk MaDonna Hornback.

Other documents that were seized from the mayor’s desk were sealed after Ron Mather, Cruse and Hornback’s attorney, asked the Court of Appeals to intervene.
