It has been a year since South Central Rural Telephone Company announced plans to expand its services farther into LaRue County. Monday night, Hodgenville City Council held first reading of an ordinance to allow SCRTC into the City.
The council agreed to a 15-year non-exclusive contract with the telecommunications company.
SCRTC, which is based in Glasgow, has served the Buffalo, Magnolia and Mount Sherman area for several years. The expansion means it will bring high-speed Internet access to more areas.
Second reading of the ordinance will be held in September.
