Santa, home tours and storytelling

By Linda Ireland

Although the weekend’s weather wasn’t as icy as predicted, it was bad enough to cancel several community activities.

Some events have been rescheduled for this weekend.

Storytelling for children will be 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at The Lincoln Museum. Director Iris LaRue will read a seasonal story.

Santa Claus will arrive at Hodgenville City Hall at 6 that evening to visit with children. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

City Clerk MaDonna Hornback said the city’s tree and displays at Creek Front Park were lighted Dec. 7 as planned.

The Christmas program following the visit from Santa has been canceled.

The Hodgenville Woman’s Club Home Tour and Tasting Party also is Saturday.

The tasting party, featuring food prepared from recipes in the Club’s latest cookbook, begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.

The home tours are 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the clubhouse on the day of the event.

Two homes are featured this year: Larry and Sandra Bell in Gleanings; and Mike and Kaye Smith in the Tanner community.
