A Buffalo family escaped injury after a Hyundai Sonata ran into their Ferrill Hill house Sunday morning.

Travis DeSpain said he was sitting on his couch when the Sonata, driven by James Brewer, 44, of Alvin Brooks Road, plowed into the front of his house.

“It pitched me into the kitchen,” he said.

The crash occurred after Rena Butler, 49, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, pulled out of her driveway next door to the DeSpain’s. She pulled into the path of Brewer.

The Equinox was struck on the driver’s door. It traveled across the roadway while Brewer’s vehicle ended up in the Despain’s front yard.

LaRue County Deputy Doug Sherrard is investigating. LaRue County EMS also responded to the scene.

Travis, his wife, Aleasha, and their two sons, ages 1 and 5, may have to stay with a relative while their house is being repaired.

“I’m just glad it was a cool day, otherwise my little boy would have been playing outside,” he said.

Brewer was transported to a medical care facility by private vehicle, where he was treated and released.
