In the May 20 primary, the top vote-getter in each race among Republicans and Democrats will square off in the November general election.

In the non-partisan category, races for the Hodgenville mayor’s seat, city council members and two school board seats for District 3 (Lincoln Farm, Buffalo) and District 5 (Hodgenville, Otter, Atilla, Mount Sherman) are up for grabs.

There is no primary for the non-partisan races. Candidates have until Aug. 12, 2014, to file a petition, certificate or statement.

Candidates wanting more information about running for political office can contact Carter’s office in the LaRue County Courthouse or visit the Kentucky State Board of Elections Web site at www.elect.ky.gov.

The general election will be Nov. 4, 2014.
