Hodgenville City Police apprehended early Tuesday a man suspected of breaking in Sammy’s Market in Sonora.
According to Police Chief Steve Johnson, Jacob Ritchie, 18, address unknown, allegedly broke in the market between 3 and 4 a.m. Ritchie began walking on Ky. 84 and was picked up by a motorist.
“According to the story we got, when he was in the vehicle, he told them he broke in and tried to get money out of the ATM,” Johnson said.
The driver “kicked him out of the car” and called 911, Johnson said. Dispatch informed Kentucky State Police and the man’s description was given to local officers.
Hodgenville officer Mark Taulbee spotted a man matching the description of the suspect at Circle K and held him until troopers arrived from Post 4.
Ritchie was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. Johnson said he would probably be charged with third-degree burglary.
