A Buffalo man has been charged with assaulting and unlawfully imprisoning a woman.

Coy M. Bagby, 35, of 1166 Hibernia Ridge Road was arrested at 10:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4.

According to Bagby’s arrest warrant, he is accused of restraining the woman last September and causing serious physical injury to her by choking her and rendering her unconscious.

Bagby was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree assault, both class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison, and misdemeanor fourth-degree assault. Bagby pleaded not guilty to the charges Jan. 5 in Taylor District Court. On Jan. 14, the charges were amended to misdemeanors.

Bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000 and he was ordered to hire an attorney and not consume any alcohol or drugs.

He also was ordered to attend two Alcoholics Anonymous meetings each week and have no violent contact with the alleged victim, although the victim told the court she wanted to have contact with Bagby.

Campbellsville Police Detective Sgt. Patricia Thompson investigated.

Pre-trial conference is Jan. 28.
