Bridget Southwood to compete in State Geography Bee

-A A +A

For the first time, LaRue County Middle School participated in the 2013 National Geography Bee. In December and January, the following students progressed to the final round in the School Geography Bee: Emma Bowling, Cameron Hensley, Jayden Kennedy, Noah Majors, Brady McDowell, Hunter McLaughlin, Rachel Sheffer, Bridget Southwood, Matt Underwood and Symone Whalin.

Bridget Southwood won; Hunter McLaughlin was second; and Rachel Sheffer was third.

Upon being declared the school winner, Southwood took a State qualifying test that was sent to State Geography Bee Director, Kate Greer. Students who made the best scores throughout the State on this test were selected to participate in the State Geography Bee on April 5 at Western Kentucky University.

LCMS Academic Team Coach, Doris Jean Holleran, was notified in early March that Bridget had qualified for the State competition.

Bridget, the daughter of Tina London and Brady Southwood, is a sixth-grader at LCMS.
