First opportunity to work as a head coach

By The Staff

James “Boo” Brewer was introduced Monday afternoon as head coach of his alma mater, Bardstown High.

A graduate of the Class of 1988, Brewer played collegiate ball at the University of Louisville.

It’s the first head coaching job for Brewer, who most recently was a boys and girls assistant at LaRue County.

“It’s very special,” Brewer said about taking over at his alma mater. “That purple’s always been in my blood.”

Brewer’s former teammate Doug Johnson takes over the Nelson County boys’ basketball program this fall after serving as an assistant the past two seasons under Artie Braden, who left Nelsonee^County last month to take over the Bethlehem program.
