The power was off in Ovesen Heights for a couple of hours Saturday night after a car sheared off an electric pole. According to LaRue County Deputy Doug Sherrard, Eli Royalty, 16, of Hodgenville, was driving a 2004 Pontiac on Leafdale Road going toward Bardstown Road about 11:50 p.m. Saturday. Royalty told the officer he wasn’t familiar with the road and before he could react, “he came to the intersection of Leafdale Road and Bardstown Road. He was unable to stop and crossed Bardstown Road striking a Nolin RECC electric pole.” The pole was snapped causing power loss to the area for two-to-three hours. His car landed in a ditch upside down. He was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by his parents, and was treated and released. Nolin workers stabilized the pole early Sunday – until a permanent repair can be made.
